Remember last month when I posted my TBR for September and I said we would be laughing this month about how little I stuck to it?... well cue the laughter.
Link to my August wrap up with my September hopefuls is here if you want to compare 🥴
September is an odd month for me because I am usually wanting to hang onto those summer reads while also wanting to jump into my fall reads too. As a mood reader, its a confusing time! Haha.

That being said, I tried to stick to my list and wound up just going with the flow this month. It worked out really well for me as I read a lot of books this month that I really enjoyed! So, here is what I read in September:
1. Happiness Falls by Angie Kim
This one was my Book of The Month pick! Something I love about Book of The Month is that it helps me expand my reading a bit to authors I might not be familiar with. When I look at the picks each month, I read the summaries as opposed to Instagram where I just see peoples reviews. The synopsis hooked me, so I made it my pick and LOVED it!
2. Kingdom of the Cursed (Kingdom of the Wicked 2) by Kerri Maniscalco
I feel like I started this one such a long time ago! Finally got around to finishing it when I was cleaning up my goodreads shelf. I love this series, but this book was just not that great for me. Please note that there is a lot of potentially triggering content in this one and the series in general, so please proceed with caution.
3. The Breakaway by Jennifer Weiner
This one you have probably seen my review for already if you are a subscriber. Read it here!
4. Good Bad Girl by Alice Feeney
I have also shared full review on the blog already, so check it out here!
5. The Way I Used to Be by Amber Smith
I was so graciously sent book 2 of this duology which is set to release in November. I couldn't start on that without reading book 1, so I dove right in. I absolutely loved it and cannot wait for book 2. Note, there are many potentially triggering topics in this one so please proceed with caution.
6. Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas
*No Instagram review yet*
I started the Throne of Glass series last month and am really enjoying it! I don't have the attention span to read all of the books in order at once though, so I am trying to do 1-2 a month. The second book for me was good but not as good as book one. I was a little bored at times but like any SJM book, the last bit really picks up and hooks you back in.
7. The Way I Am Now by Amber Smith
*No Instagram review yet - releases November 7, 2023*
CW: sexual assault and rape are heavy themes in this series and is graphically described throughout. Please be kind to yourself and proceed with caution.
Okay, you caught me... I didn't *actually* finish this one in September... it was October 1st ;) I wanted to include it anyways though because I read the majority of it in September. I also think I might do a separate blog post on the series so stay tuned for that! Overall, this one was good. It was a fantastic exploration of the after affects of trauma on not just one person but those around. It was a great way to explore the rest of Edens story. It is nice to see characters that have been through so much finally get their happy ending, but I just felt like it was dragged on a bit where I was already satisfied with the ending of book one. It was very interesting though and I still very much enjoyed it!
At the end of the day, I felt like I had an amazing reading month! I read quite a few books that I really enjoyed, and that's really all I can ask for.
My October TBR is one I think I might actually stick to. Of course its pretty ambitious as usual, but I love to load up my October with thrillers & fantasy! I figured since I just did my fall reading recommendations post featuring most of these, then I would have a little fun with this picture. So, here is my October TBR!

I might throw some Halloween themed reads in there too, but if I'm being honest... I haven't really found any that I haven't read yet that I am interested in. I will have a post coming soon though with my Halloween themed reads, so stay tuned for that!
